German Agro Action - DWHH

Background

After the devastating Tsunami in Sri Lanka, which killed thousands and destroyed a whole coastline, German Agro Action established a countrywide livelihood programme with its national partner SEWELANKA. Due to the ECHO funded projects it requested the following tasks:

  • Support and improve the operations procedures of the national partner SEWELANKA
  • Training of national staff for sustainable running of the operation.
  • Support the national ECHO project-audit.

Tasks

Along the above mentioned areas, the following tasks were conducted during 2005:

  • Support and participative discussion on the operational systems and integration of already existing practice. Discussion on the main changes with all levels of the management of the national partner.
  • Evaluation of the existing tools and standards and adjusting them to the situation in Sri Lanka and according to the rules and regulations of ECHO.
  • Pre-checking and evaluation of all operation documents and adjusting of them prior to the ECHO audit.

Results

After the conduction of the tasks the following results could be successfully achieved:

  • Successful running of the full operational system with trained national staff.
  • Established operational procedures, adjusted at the country regulations of Sri Lanka and ECHO regulations.
  • Successful and accepted audit report from ECHO, with approves good programming from SEWELANKA.
